My usual setup is my MacBook (decent-ish but it's about 4/5 years old now so it will probably require replacing in the near future) with Ableton Live 8 and my Akai APC40... best thing I ever got, such a good tool to use in live performances.
Don't think I've currently used that setup to it's maximum potential but I drop in acapellas and risers as and when needed (tastefully, obviously). I find that the lack of beat-matching allows for a lot more creative elements to enter my mix but as I said, I think I've played it safe so far in terms of the level of involvement in external stuff.

My Live Setup:
- 2010 MBP
- Tascam US1641
- Numark $100 DJ Mixer (3ch)
- Novation Launchpad
- Novation LaunchControl (newest addition replacing a beaten up BCR200 which sucked from day one).
- USB hub + AC Adapter
- A milk crate, which carries my gear and then acts as my laptop stand. That crates been to every show i have done in the last three years.
- Duct tape
- HD280 Pro headphones, sometimes skullcandy in ears depending on the situation.
Ableton live feeds 2 seperate stereo sends into numark dj mixer. I basically use Ableton like a Turnatble repalcement and do my mixing, eq and monitoring via the mixer. I like having a physical mixer to do the dirty work on just how i have been since i started.

Two technics 1200, a mixer and my macbook/interface.
I've noticed that asking for something that's not DJM crap is futile
Not doing gigs or any DJing at all now though.

I just wasn't feeling my Numark CDJ's anymore.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Traktor S2 MKII. So far, Native Instruments have never let me down.

You don't have to figure that out though
Midisport 4x4 will do.
