The two signs aren't really equivalent like that though, although I guess the actual point is communicated.

This pro-working class shit, especially in the UK, is self-righteous reactionary hipsterism after the whole Thatcher debacle. It's not just that people don't truly care, it's that they pretend to care because it's fashionable.

Interesting point, also has similaries with the slacktivism debate that i think there was a thread about in snh a while ago if i remember rightly. People want to be seen to be doing something good but dont want to trouble themselves to actually take action and do anything that might actually make a difference.

personally I admire the effort
which seems to only upset peebs who are or could be poor

but, as Gene says, ultimately ineffective
in inspiring public to share the wealth
though not hipsterism
which couldn't give a shit about inequity

imo the thread that asserts unconditionally giving money is more on point

Always intrigues me when people under the age of 25 start blaming Thatcher for things.

Question to US ninjas <25yrs old; do you blame Reagan for anything, even though you weren't alive to remember him being President?

Also, related question;

In OP video, the guy was told by a policeman that the sandwich board was offensive. What's the law pertaining to such obscene words being displayed in public?

There aren't many 40+ year olds from the UK posting on this forum, are there? I think we sit quite comfortably in the 20 - 30 bracket.

I'd be one of them ;)

My point is that if the self righteous reactionary stuff is a reaction to Thatcher it's a little slow.
