alright
quick question
to what extent does "loudness" of track come from having a super tight mixdown, vs to waht extent does it come from stuff like compression whatnot after u finish the track and master it a bit n that
read all the moneyshot and whatnot so im aware of dynamics all that jazzings

I'm no pro by any means, and I'm sure someone will come along and tell me I'm wrong, but I think they both kind of go hand in hand. Bass takes up the most headroom, so if it's too loud in the mix or jumping out in spots, when you go to boost the whole track you won't be able to boost it as much without clipping because the bass will be making it clip. But at the same time this could be irrelevant to you because I don't know what your usual process for mastering is. If you're using like multiband compression, then it's probably irrelevant. What's your usual plan of attack for mastering?
