Vocal Effect

Post by 123kidd » Tue May 20, 2014 6:58 pm

Hey guys, been following Zhu and I gotta say, his productions are top notch.

Anyhow, how does one go about achieving this insane vocal effect.
Starts at 1.18
Vocals are pitched down, but what else. Im lost. Seems like a similar technique the weeknd uses.

Soundcloud

Thanks in advance guys

Not pitched down, but the 'formants' have been reduced.
Other than that, there might be mild touch of a phaser or flanger on it...and a little reverb.

much thanks mate! Would melodyne be the tool of choice to achieve this? I have only used it for pitch correction.

Melodyne would be perfect, skrillex used it on his tune with the ragga twins

It has a built in formant tool, quick video explaining it here

yeah melodyne can do it...also if you have an audio clip in ableton, complex pro mode lets you change formants too.
