How do you like my "artist" name

Post by Krayue » Wed Jun 25, 2014 1:38 am

Hello, I'm an upcoming, "artist" and I've been having quite a bit of a problem these past few hours. I'm a very indecisive person when it comes to usernames. However, I seem to like this one. I was just wondering if people would, and if it sounded good.

- My childhood nickname was, "Crazy". I just took, "Cray", and changed it to a K.

- Ue comes from the last two letters of my middle name, "True".

What do you think, is it a catchy/good name?

I like it. A google search will find it easily.

And it's better than the following suggestions...

I like the sound of it pretty well...although a more proper portmanteau of those two words might be "Krue". If I heard a sub.fm DJ shout it out, I'm not sure how I'd type it into google....probably the way the last guy spelled it, and then you might lose some results.

It does make me laugh when people claim to be an 'upcoming' artist. I wouldn't worry too much about a name for yourself right now, the most important thing if you're an upcoming artist is; can you make decent tunes??

If you can make decent tunes, in my opinion it wouldn't matter if you called yourself TURD - its just a name!

Yeah worry about a name later! Krayue sounds fine to me, the only problem i could see being the whole radio shoutout thing like shakes said earlier.

Truezy

Kruezy

(optionally you could also remove the 'e' from each of the above)

Krylon

(good one although not great in the search engines)

Actually, a name is really important, not just for google indexing. An artist name will have a big overall psychological effect on the listener. If Radiohead were called, say, Pig Sluts or something, well, I doubt they'd have done as well, or even got a record deal...

It pays off to take the time to think of your overall 'persona', something you can project through your sound and in your performances, and your name will have a big effect on that.... If you're into making a living out of this sort of thing that is...

Also a good name will stick in people's heads, conjure up certain imagery etc. Why do you think big brands spend so much time and money coming up with their logos and PR campaigns?

btw, I don;t like it, because of the weird spelling at the end. Shorten or lengthen it lol

I want to pronounce it as 'krayway' when I read it, not 'krayoo'....

^that's actually really true. the one thing i will say about names is DO NOT put any stupid shit in your name like a number or an exclamation point or capital letters. it just looks really unprofessional to me whenever i see names like that and it looks more like a screen name than the name of a musician. i always feel really biased listening to music from people with names like that, it makes their music seem cheap or childish/not serious.
