TUBA is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Mentha & Ziaflow’s Blue Deep EP. One of our most international undertakings yet with artists from Italy, Hungary, and Denmark represented, the EP explores the deeper and lyrical side of bass music with the production and vocal work of Mentha & Ziaflow. TUBAd 006 also features remixes from RDG and D-Operation Drop.
Blue Deep and Crystal Dawn are thoughtful, musical statements that envelope the listener with warm harmonically rich waves of sound. Ziaflow masterfully blends her voice over these deep bass tracks with a pronounced and pleasing jazz influence. Melodic sax strains and thick piano chords are weaved throughout.
RDG returns to the label with his remix of the title track. He conforms the themes of the original to a more beat oriented riddim as he applies a different rhythmic pulse and a more percussive approach.
D-Operation Drop takes Crystal Dawn in a more experimental direction. The Italian collective’s remix brings an element of creative chaos to the release while adhering to a mix-able beat.
We are pleased to welcome Subaltern Label boss Mentha to our roster. Originally from Sicily, Mentha has been based in London for several years and has been a consistent proponent of the deep sound.
