You *are* a sociopath tho mason, so you don't count
For real tho that argument about lack of subcultures is stupid
There was a natural need for them that there isn't anymore I guess
Also western culture is dying

Re: Message to DSF Youf
the youth subcultures listed all came to prominence at a time where there was no internet though. if the internet had been around during the 70s i'd imagine there would be a punk forum where they all sat behind their screens and calling malcolm mclaren a tnuc.
people posting on the internet doesn't mean they don't go outside. whilst a fascination with modern 'entertainment' culture is a bad thing for society in general, it's just as much likely to be a 40yr old married woman who is glued to her sofa stuffing cheetos into her mouth whilst watching real housewives of beverly hills as it is to be a disaffected youth listening to dubstep whilst chatting on facebook.
also to move with a message of 'step away from the keyboards', you'd be denying (for example) micro blogging sites like twitter which have proven to be fundamental in the spreading of stories and messages otherwise ignored by mainstream media.
the above graphic isn't entirely wrong, but to lay down a blanket preach without taking in all aspects of what you're preaching against is a bit stupid imo.
not to mention the whole thing smacks of condescension.

It's just another example of the bullshit false optimism that is force fed to young people nowadays.

Yes, because abject self-indulgent pessimism & dismissiveness are so much better.
Re: Message to DSF Youf
Imo, it's more a problem with social media than anything else.
Communication is fucked but I'd have more issues with a politician tweeting than yoots being vain and passing on the superficial judgement they are supposed to.

They need to be able to utilise both the real world and the internet to be fair. Knowledge is power, and the internet is full of it, but you need to use it, which is where the real world comes in

Re: Message to DSF Youf
kids! go outside! hang around on street corners like that doesn't get you stopped and searched ever. you know they invented ASBOs since the 60s right? heard of dispersal orders? http://www.jrf.org.uk/publications/use- ... sal-orders the police can order groups of two or more people to fuck off out of a designated area for no more reason than "their presence" is "likely to" "cause distress". thousands of kids had a big fuck off national riot 3 years ago. where are they now? INSIDE. all the while bit by bit "public space" in the cities is getting privatised, meaning probably the square you are hanging out on is owned by someone who can (and will if they like) decide you are trespassing whenever they like.
anyways, if you'd like to protest any of this, feel free to get kettled and arrested.
sorry but the idea the only reason kids aren't "outside" is cos they are on youtube instead is ridiculous. most kids use the internet on their phones anyway. whoever that is spent a lot of time on their laptop making a scrolling infographic for fuck all reason tbh

Re: Message to DSF Youf
also people really need to stop romanticising a bunch of stnuc from the sixties who mostly grew up to be straight laced old fuckers anyway. it's not about having "youth subcultures" and making old people scared of you. it's about having a politics and making the ruling class scared of you. god help u if you think a bit of hair dye and shit music is gonna do that.
