Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
So, I've had a kaoss pad for over a year now, and I have never really used it. I've done some messing around using a mic, but nothing special. So, I'm wondering if any of you cats have some clever uses for this thing I can try out.

Feed it a stem on loop with a bar of silence at the end, fuck shit up, record, chop shit up and use it.
Alternatively, after you have completely arranged a song, send an instrument out to the KP3 and "play the KP3" while the song runs its course, record. Do different takes and see what you can come up with.

How do I do feed it loops from my computer? If that's what you mean.
Re: Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
That is what I mean ;p
You'll have to route audio out of your DAW through your audio interface and back into the computer to record. What audio interface are you using? If you aren't using FL Studio I can't help you with your DAW, unfortunately. But it *should* be pretty simple. Basically it'll be setting up a send/return path.

Hmm, ok I got ya. When I get home I'll see if I can figure it out. If I can do that then I'll be able to incorporate it into my dj sets also!
Re: Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
Basically you'll need at least two inputs and two outputs on your sound card (one of each will do, but the FX will be in mono). All you need to do is set one channel in your mixer (in your DAW) to send audio to the outputs on your interface and a second channel to receive audio from the inputs on your interface.

That's besides the point

This went off topic quick!
Re: Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
Put audio through it. Put parts of your song through it. Send a synth to it, and fuck wit it.
Fuck wit it.
Fuck wit it.

This is all you need to know about a Kaoss Pad, really. It wants you to put you fingers on it.nowaysj wrote:

I have a lowly KP2, and one of the best uses I got out of it (among many other things) was the BPM counter on it using the tap tempo button. I used that to calculate and and mark all of my Disco records BPMs. I've also used it with my DJ mixer to catch loops, play with effects etc. Plug a mic into it and get a decent vocoder. It's a decent tool.
Re: Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
How did you use it in your dj set up? I don't know how to connect it to my mixer. It would be great if I could use it with traktor
Re: Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
Post some screen shots of your mixer. To use it "inside" Traktor you'll need extra I/O on your audio interface.kid getem wrote:How did you use it in your dj set up? I don't know how to connect it to my mixer. It would be great if I could use it with traktor

Re: Good uses for korg kaoss pad.
Yeah, my mixer has an effects send and return built into it with a wet/dry fader. Plugged the Kaoss Pad right into that, set the input levels and output levels on the Kaoss Pad itself and used the wet/dry fader to dial in how much effect comes through. Rane is a local company and I've been a big supporter of their DJ mixers for years.
