Who is the best DJ in the scene?

Post by jaydot » Thu Aug 14, 2014 10:42 pm

Going on crowd reaction, selection, mixing etc. Yunx is the obvious choice but then there's people like Chefal who are very solid with both mix and selection-Darkside's selection is always on point-missed Skream last time he played as I was too far gone.... so don't know about him....Goth Trad is a good mixer his set was enjoyable when I saw him. Kahn destroyed the dance too.

Who do you think?

chef always has a sick mixture of the hype and the "deeep", always look forwards to his mixes and sets

kahn is always so on point, prefer it when he doesn't go completely grime, love when he's doing dubstep gorgon and grime all together

vivek and mala too

Never seen VIVEK or Mala live, might try find some live sets on youtube though

There's footage from 2007 of Yunx and even then you could tell he was a good DJ.

i would love to see joe nice, seen most people by now but not him

youngsta's always been a sick dj, just not feeling his selection so much now, would rather catch jkenzo for that type, he's usually ill

Younx has skill.
Mala has presence.
Kode9 has a unique selection.
Chef, Jay5ive, Joe Nice are just all around solid.

but the sets I enjoy most to listen back to are probably Pearson Sound's.

Rusko's sets used to be good back in the day he knew how to gee up a crowd.

Plasticman back in the day used to bring the right balance between absolute fire and groove while having great technical ability.

Same for Youngsta.

But now their selection is iffy I don't know.

I haven't been blown away by a set in a long, long time.

Think it was a year or two ago I saw Plastician do a 3 hour history of garage/grime/dubstep set which was mad.. apart from that yeah, not interested. Is he even on Rinse still?

big up on alexander nut actually. One of my favourite djs
Andres had one of the best dj sets ive seen recently. he even does a bit of scratching which is interesting.
none of the djs that still play dubstep really inspire me at the moment apart from maybe kahn. but even then its mainly for the grime bits he plays

V.I.V.E.K seems to have gotten his style of mixing really locked down since System started, using reverbs, delays and other fx as a fundamental part of the mix itself rather than just clumsily sticking all the fx on top, it borders on live dubbing at times which is really cool

Commodo has smashed it every time I've seen him, his set at System 1st bday was one of the best sets I've ever witnessed

Yunx is just technically flawless but his selection can sometimes be a bit boring
