Experimental Dubstep

Post by kronodigger » Wed Aug 27, 2014 10:16 am

Hello everyone!

I am currently on the lookout for artists and labels that focus on more experimental side of dubstep and deep bass music. By "experimental" I mean good portion of sound design, perhaps certain sound FX, a bit less common beat loop structures and all that stuff.

I would love to hear your recommendations on some artists and labels that you might think of.

Thanks!

Funckarma's sound design is ridiculous, although not everything they do falls under the dubstep banner.

Thanks guys!

I am pretty familiar with Hecq and Funckarma. Also I love Vex'd stuff, but it's a shame that they split up and haven't been producing anything together since their last album.

I am discovering a lot of cool artists that push the boundaries on labels such as Ad Noiseam (where Hecq did most of his releases), Hymen, Acroplane and some others.
Such guys as Monolog, Defrag, Broken Note (even though a bit on a harsh heavy side), Underhill and others.

I would love to keep this thread going - hear some more suggestions from all of you and post myself some interesting discoveries of my own.

Meanwhile, here is a first mix I did of something I consider a bit experimental.

I will record one more soon as well.

Nice one wubstep, it's like you've been raiding my collection (and leaving a couple new ones for me behind.) Again, not much "truhed 140 dubstep" in there but that's not a bad thing. :W:

Haxan Cloak and Oyaarss too.

Maybe I got some bad luck, but while derping through YTB hearing what Haxan Cloak has to offer, it was mostly ambient/modern classical sound. Which is not bad at all, but don't fit into OP list I guess. Oyaarss is closer tho, but not too close for me.

But who I am to tell what's experimental here or whats not ;]

But... ;)
I add another guy to check ;] : wAgAwAgA !!!

This guy heavily flirts with experimental sounds when making dubstep (& not only this). You should check his bandcamp, absolutely lovely stuff (recommends "mrepsican" i "chops & wobbles" EP)!!!

Guy is insane tho - lost contact with his music 'bout 3 years ago & he made 9 longplays during that time, lol! :O :O :O :O
