I was going to say that.

Most violence has to do with the struggle for economic prosperity and mental illness. Also there is a culture of violence in America. That culture has to do with the deification of the competitive man who will do anything to succeed, the glorification of the military, our tendency to romanticize war, and the anti-intellectualism that plagues this country.

It depends on what type of violence you are talking about...

School shootings are generally the result of a failed/unprogressive mental health system. Most school shooters display mental problems at a very early age and often the parents fail to adress these mental problems.

Economic violence is caused by high income inequality and cultural problems present in most low income areas. Many people in the ghetto would rather commit a crime than go on the internet and get an education. Many people who gangbang often use their ill gotten money to commit more crimes instead of enrolling themselves in college.

Personal acts of violence like spousal shootings, Trayvon Martin scenarios, bar fights turned violent. Are the result of idiots who can't control their anger. This sort of violence will always exists and there is little the government or society could do to stop it.
