TUBA is pleased to announce it’s seventh digital release. TUBAd 007 – The Khora EP features the breathtaking and mature work of Tom Wood aka Sub Basics. This 18-year-old newcomer from Kent, UK brings to bear a beautifully unique vision as he presents his debut EP on TUBA.
The Khora EP has received support from Vivek, Geode, Promise One, Piezo, Sepia, Subtle Mind and Bakir.
This collection of tracks opens with Coma, a work of meditation that focuses on ambience and atmosphere. The intricately crafted texture of the piece transmits a unique, introspective mood.
Khora is a dark stomper that relentlessly pushes massive sub weight as touches of tribal percussion and strained melodies define the vibe. This is the one for the dance!
No Link and Shadow take a distinct rhythmic approach as they both use edited break-beats and dark bass lines as their foundation. Ethereal melodies and whispered counterpoint lines are weaved throughout.
Jazz is also an influence for Sub Basics as is evident on In the Quiet. Lonely horn riffs converse with piano chords as deep sub notes and verbed out claps drive the rhythm.
