Wild Thornberry's Class War

Post by RKM » Sat Nov 22, 2014 6:14 pm

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... de-britain

has anyone been a bit confused by this in the past 24hrs, this is the mp of my constituency weirdly enough

like is that picture genuinely offensive to anyone? i can't believe a labour mp from politically correct islington is going to mock the working class on twitter

i see that, but kinda feel like mps here are more normal and likely to go to places like kent and meet ordinary people than nancy pelosi (obviously i don't know that for a fact)

i get that it looks like that but i still can't see her being that rude/oblivious on purpose, like i say, her constituency is the type of area where you debate stuff like calling manholes 'personholes' and shit like that and not where you post on twitter about how you think poor people are tacky

The fact that she's offered no counter to what was levelled against her (that I've seen?) suggests that the 'urgh working-class patriotism' implication of her tweet was actually what she intended. Whether that really meant she should resign I don't know, I would consider myself working class and that shit is tacky to me too. That being said it's the guy's house and he can do what he likes with it.

Thornberry is MP for Islington, an area of London long a byword for rich, bourgeois cultural and political elitism.
big ups

on the subject tho, and assuming Ray's american translation is accurate, it just seems kinda stupid. Idk why anyone would think its offensive, its just doesnt make much sense.

might make more of a reply when less drunk but tbh ray's response changed my mind (my response to that was speculating on motive which makes no sense at all)

was a stupid thing to do, but tbh i'm more annoyed at seeing labour flail over these stupid pr politics bollocks trying to keep up with ukip

at this moment in time when everyone's broke and angry surely the fact that they're the party interested in social welfare should be worth more than trying to score points against the 'blame it all on the gypsys and migrants' party

and ebhes, that quote's not untrue but it's a fairly varied area at the same time so that quote's a bit generalizing

edit; to be clear i certainly didn't vote her in or anything, just interested in what other people thought about this

lol why would anyone resign because of that?
“Also, in Spain politicians often refuse to resign even when they are under criminal investigation, so it’s easy to see why a resignation prompted by a tweeted picture of a flag would be greeted with bafflement here.”

ultra o my days what the fuck hahahah

ebhz ffs, we don't have america's ghetto/nicebit/ghetto/nicebit separation as much in london, thanks to the luftwaffe, mixed in with the bourgeois fucks like myself is a great deal of social housing so i don't think that was entirely accurate

If only there was a similar level of response, and as rapid, when the expenses claim scandal occured, people might actually have more trust in politicians than they do now. Totally blown out of proportion.
