Interesting - filtered drums?

Not too sure how to phrase it because I'm not 100% as to how they're done but, some examples would be on the "movember" song by Koan, Asa, Culprate etc. where some are played toward the end of the song. They're quite faint but definitely there. Burial uses it alot too, specifically i think near the end of Kindred.

Any help, tips or videos would be great.
