Ok I didnt want to have this conversation but this seems like the best place for it so If you've been into dub since the mid 00s then of course things are going to get a bit samey and jaded 15 years down the line. It is absolutely unavoidable, especially when it's more or less the same beats, same samples, same DJs, same MCs, same venues etc.
Many times over the years I've reached a stage where I've thought 'fuck this' and sacked dubs off completely. I don't think I went to a single night, or paid any attention to the scene whatsoever for about 18 months in 2009-2011. All it took was one night in the Fabirc to pull me straight back in though and I was like a newbie raver all over again.
As frustrating, repetitive and downright cheesy as the thing can get at times, there is still no other style of music that excites me in the way dub bass does, I don't think that's ever going to change no matter how old I get. For every shallow boring tune or producer that comes out there is another mindblowing one that is bubbling under the surface if you can be bothered to look for it.
Get involved. Be postive.
