How/why did you get into producing?
It was a warm summers evening, a light breeze filled the air. I was in my room, sipping on lemonade. It was cold and refreshing. I had music playing, skrillex. After googling how to make dubstep, I declared myself a producer and pirated £10,000 worth of software and loops such as vengeance essential dubstep just to make beats like him.

I was in school and everyone did a presentation about one genre of music. We worked in pairs and I didn't even listen to the music in that time and weren't interested in school either, so I told my pair to pick a genre and I just copy pile of shit from wikipedia. He chose dubstep, which resulted in me being "dafuq is dubstep?". I started listening to electronic music myself after that and continued to this part few months later:

Re: How/why did you get into producing?
The short version:
I got into a massive/gut wrenching argument with some girl I liked. I realized how bad my life is. I saw a trailer to a movie and made the decision to start making dubstep. Within a couple of hours of seeing the trailer and making the decision...I downloaded massive and fm8 and I signed up for dsf.
Of course I procrastinate heavily and it took me several months to spend more than 10 minutes on a daw.

Did the argument play a pivotal in making you watch the trailer?

No I found it through a typo and a misclick....But the trailer did involve awkward girl problems and dubstep producing. Plus the song that was used was a banger and made me feel happy for the first time in days...CreamLord wrote:Did the argument play a pivotal in making you watch the trailer?
I was interested in how people made edm and If I didn't make the decision then, I would've, inevitably, made it a few months down the road.

I thought it might make me a bit cooler with girls, the irony being that I've now spent that much time locked away making beats I've lost most of my ability to communicate with society in general
Re: How/why did you get into producing?
Motherfucking Joe Zawinul with Weather Report and Herbie Hancock with Headhunters. I decided that I didn't want to sample those records, I wanted to play them (yeah, long shot, I know.)
