Cuz the old lady fell in the ditch... can't you see it???? the look of complete embarrasment and helplessness that we are all heading for.. a time when we can't even control our bowels, or walk...

its not so much the situation in itself. its the fact she seems to be lookin at the camera with that expression of mild vexation and the casual bystander on the right that give the picture a certain sense of the absurd.

those old peeps on scooters are pretty nuts tho... i've heard many a story of them prangin into ditches like that, or trying to drive on the road, or running down children in shopping centres....
i'm pretty sure they need some kind of licence for them here

Imagine her crashing that thing - very slowly - over and over again...
Those things have to be hard to crash at that speed - unless there is an exhorbitant amount of oil on say, a very smooth patch of pavement.
