Hello World! (And soundcloud question)

Post by TheDreRock » Sun Jan 11, 2015 9:13 pm

Hi you all! My name is Eldre and I'm new to this forum. My soundcloud is @TheDreRock if you kinda wanted to get my style.

I have a quick question about soundcloud I was hoping someone could answer. Before I upload any non-remix track, I get it copyrighted because I'm scared that someone might steal my stuff. I know you can report infringement on soundcloud, but is there any way to make sure no one sells it on itunes, for example, as their own? I'm definitely tired of not having a steady upload rate because I have to wait to get my stuff copyrighted.

For example, my "Decode" remix is my most successful track, and I have it available for download as creative commons. I went on YouTube wondering if there are any new remixes of the song (I check a lot because it's one of my favorite songs ever!) and I had found that someone pitch changed my remix and uploaded it to youtube as their own! I don't think I can do anything about it because it's on youtube, not soundcloud. Is there any way to prevent this to happening on a larger scale (let's say, guy with 500k followers and signed to a label releases my track ON ITUNES as their own.) This is why I copyright all my tracks, I'm scared of that happening.

Sorry to be so descriptive, I get a bit long winded at times  anyway, I'm glad to be on this forum and hopefully network with some of you guys!

You don't need to "have it copyrighted." You own the copyright of anything you create.
