and people posting their events on other events. the fuck is wrong with you. just go out and hand out some flyers, put up some posters.

that implies doing something, slacktivist promoters aren't big into that. 10:1 they were also mad about child labour somewhere and shared a link same day.jrkhnds wrote:this.nobody wrote:There is this night here where they post about it in the event page for every previous event to everyone gets 10+ notifications, a lot of people stopped going coz of it

i get the posting on previous events cause maybe not everyone liked the promoter's page or w/e but do it for like the most recent one
i like promoters who keep shit low key. like announce it 2 weeks before and that's it. fuck announcing an event half a year before and spam it nearly daily. i get when it's some tour and the band announces all the dates before but some techno night noone outside the city will show up to, there's really no point for that

whatever happened to standing in the cold giving out flyers at 6am when clubs are kicking out

I read them too. So I can make schmuck remarks about the different line ups.

I get where you're coming from, but I tend to post the same event three or four times via our page over the course of a month. then again, we've had guests travelling 500km to see Hybris, so I don't feel too bad about it really. we still have people at all the other parties handing out flyers and putting up posters though. unless you're a top flyer guy, nice, sociable, somebody people will remember, nothing's more effective than posters, considering the small amount of effort it takes to hang them up and the amount of people you "reach".ultraspatial wrote:yeh that's a bit lamejrkhnds wrote:this.nobody wrote:There is this night here where they post about it in the event page for every previous event to everyone gets 10+ notifications, a lot of people stopped going coz of it

Re: Ridiculous / Funny / Stupid Music Event Spam
i was on about promoters who make the event page 4-5 months in advance and post something daily/nearly daily. that shit doesn't make you forget about it but rather turn off notifications and then eventually forget about it
Re: Ridiculous / Funny / Stupid Music Event Spam
oh, on the event page. yes, I always turn my notifications off if the guys don't keep reasonably calm.
on this very topic: Scuba's playing a good venue later this year and I'm kinda tempted to go. the club does everything right, only the programming is sometimes a bit off, evidently. and I could really do with a "badtaste party" once again, should be fun... anyway, the fb event description is a bit much: "Scuba will always go against the flow, and when the flow finally gives in and adapts to Scuba's direction, the innovator and pioneer will simply change directions once more."
translation by me, but trust me, the german version is even worse. which reminds me; spelling mistakes and bad language skills in general are a no-no when it comes to events. huge turn-off. if the promoters aren't even capable of finding somebody who can put three comprehensible sentences together I trust them even less do set up a decent night.
