(CHCH) "MALA" UK DIRECT / BENCHWEIGHT DUBSTEP / 16

Post by subtle prmtns » Mon Oct 29, 2007 5:17 am

Digital Mystikz: MALA one South London's finest purveyors of meditational bass weight music. Pioneer of the dubstep scene, producer, DJ, label owner and promoter, out to unleash a dense concentration of dubwise good vibrations.

Way Back in 1992 when Mala heard jungle music on a pirate radio station that he thought about making music for the first time. It wasn't until just after 2001 he decided to take the production game on seriously. Taking influences not just from world music but also from aspects of life and environmental sounds. Mala quotes "it's just a mash-up of styles all the way from jungle to dub to jazzy stuff, basically at the end of the day it's about enjoying writing music, its not about anything else!"

Mala with long time South London friend Coki unite as Digital Mystiks. They began with a shared love of jungle, dub, roots reggae, garage and house. Together they began forming their own distinct styles of music. Their breakthrough came when their first anthem, "Pathwayz" (Big Apple) got dropped at the renowned London dubstep club Forward>>. Soon distinctive, fresh music like Mala's "Neverland" or "Anti War Dub", Coki's "Stuck" or "Shattered" began raining down on unsuspecting Londoners.

They soon started their own flagship label DMZ with partner Loefah who is one of the dubstep scenes most prolific producers . DMZ now on its thirteenth release with one of the most exciting releases in the dubstep scene this year Coki's "Spongebob". DMZ is well and truly a figurehead imprint for the dubstep scene. Digital Mystikz also have had two 12" released on London's respected Soul Jazz imprint including the long awaited appearance of dance floor classic "Conference.". The duo also featured alongside Loefah on Aphex Twin's label Rephlex, who licensed a batch of their dubplates for the second of their globally recognised "Grime" compilations.

To fully showcase their sound they began the DMZ night, held every two months at 3rd Base (St Matthews Church) in Brixton. Now two year's old and with friends, fans and family flying in from all over the globe to attend, the DMZ night reaches capacity with rammed dance floors and people unable to attend due to roadblock queues .

After performing in Wellington and Auckland in 06 for New Zealands very first taste in international dubstep Christchurch will finally get to experience the vibe of the pure DMZ movement on November 16 2007 inside Double Happy.

Heavily Boosted Low End imported for the night from Subtle & SoundhoundZ.
