Bukez Finezt Dark Bass ( Enemies feat. NZYM)

Post by Umea » Mon Jan 19, 2015 11:12 pm

Hey guys,
i just listend to "Enemies" by bukez finezt and nzym and i wondered if anyone knows how to achieve those slightly gnarly bass punches he did in this tune.

drop is at 27 seconds. i can imagine how the processing of the basses work, but i have no idea how he achieved the patch itself. i tried it in massive with a smooth square wave and some distortion units such as the brauner tube and a ring mod for osc modulation. actually, by patch sounded a little bit similar to this but it was way less bass weightier and not that solid if you understand. i tried eqing some freqs in the midrange up to achieve a more solid result but at least it just clipped and went muddy.

actually i think my sounddesign skills are good enough to explain the most by myself for myself but at this point i get stuck. there are about, 3 bass patches or bass forms in this tune,

the first is the bass just at the drop which is starting with 3 hits, then the bass comes in with the slower attack of just an lfo with an 1/2 speed and a triangle for example ...

the 3rd one is the one at 4:21 which comes every few bars with a single hit wich is more in the upper freq area...

back in the days as i produced as "subkontra" i did some bass patches which were quite rusko/skream oldschool like which got a similar sound. i know that i was using the daft filter for it but actually im not able anymore to achieve those sounds and at least they were only similar and not that solid and present as the one in "enemies".

what do you think?

I'll check this out when I get home.
I like a lot that kind of basses.
