The King of 2 in 2 out USB Audio io
So there it is. I'm looking for an audio io to use a laptop as a dedicated synth host as part of a larger rig.
Will also be used as audio io for my laptop so I can have a proper headphone connection (Asus is pretty sucko).
ALSO I need a 2/2 with multiclient asio drivers, so I can send audio from youtube into my daw software. This is a must. Youtube is a diamond encrusted platinum mine for samples.
And looking for something with a rugged reputation.
Any suggestions?
I'm looking at PreSonus Audiobox 22VSL, Scarlet 2i2, and a few others. Hard to figure out if they have multiclient drivers, usually in my experience requires some type of software mixer application to port audio around the system.
Also looking around $50 used, maybe $75. I know it is not a lot, but I'm revamping a lot of stuff.
Thanks Guise!

You want MIDI, yes?

50/50
Yeah/no
I'm a little ambivalent. For most of my applications, I'd likely be doing midi over usb.
But it wouldn't hurt to have midi, just more potential, I guess.

I'd wait for a deal on a Scarlet. I feel like Tascam makes some decent cheap usb audio interfaces

Re: The King of 2 in 2 out USB Audio io
I bought a tascam interface once upon a time... had some real driver issues.
Yeah, I may go scarlet.
I also bought an M-Audio, think it was fast track, it had the most brittle sound, couldn't stand it... hoping the scarlet doesn't have that sound.
I'm using 1616m for my main rig. IMO those converters sound good. I may be spoiled.

Oh that's right. You were concerned over drivers. I should read the fucking OP eh?
I think I had an internal M-Audio interface. Pure crap.

Think I'm going to add a behringer (I know) ADA 8200 to my rig. Get 14 inputs/ 14 outputs through my emu 1616m.
I don't know if I'm going to close this mixer deal though... I was dealing with a middle man, dude sold this prosonus digi mixer to this club, and I think he was like I'll sell your old mixer. He brokered the deal, we agreed on price, and club was supposed to contact me... and now black hole. I got a couple of calls from a blocked number last night, hoping it was the club. Could have just been the executioner calling again.
