xfer lfo tool controlling ableton instrument rack macro

Post by staggalicous » Tue Feb 03, 2015 4:42 am

I got xfer lfo tool in the hopes that i will be able to use it to modulate anything in ableton. I cannot figure out the midi send feature.

Basically what i thought i was going to be able to do was send midi from a midi channel with nothing but the lfo tool on it to another midi channel with the instrument on it to control the macro knob of the instrument rack. I just cant figure out how to get it to control anything other than the filter thats already built in.

any point in the right direction would be helpful thanks!

i've scene that, but it doesnt allow you to draw the curves like lfo tool does.

You place lfotool on the track you want the compression on, then on the instrument you want to reference from, (like a kick), tell the channel you want it to listen to the compressed track by going to audio out to that channel. OR, you can just create a effects bus and reference that.

that doesnt really help. I dont want to use it as compression. like i said I want to control a macro knob of an instrument rack which changes parameters of the instrument itself and other effects. Having it in an effects chain wouldnt help (unless im miss understanding you). There appears to be no external sidechain capabilities of the plugin so I'm guessing using the midi out to do this is the only option. I could not get the midi out to control the knob tho. it appears that sending the midi to any channel 1-127 will not control the knob.
