New (to some) synthesis method!!!!!

Post by sherbert mastodon » Sat Nov 24, 2007 5:52 pm

Chaotic FM synthesis is my new obsession. It results in listening to fractals.
Here's how you do it. I use an analog modular, so Absynth/reaktor or other modular softsynths will work, I assume.
Modulate the frequency of the first osc with the output of the second.
Modulate the frequency of the second osc with the output of the first.
You can put an effect with feedback in one or more of these signal paths.
A third osc can be used in the same fashion, for insanity.
Then hook up the rest of the patch as you normally would, but use the filter after the env/vca, or use one before and one answer.
Bing! Evolving crazy fractal sounds. Record the output for an hour while tweaking, and resample. This is important, because you can't get the same sound twice.

Just at it again there, lost track of all time using 50+ patch cables and 3/4 of the modules!!! Awesome.........
