Yeah I'm a fan of a bit o' metal... especially 'metal with atmosphere'... You heard Neurosis & Isis?

Great video of a collab between Isis & Tim Hecker here:

Tool, Deftones, SOAD, Pantera... that's about it. I don't keep up with it much.

I used to engineer for a metal venue.

metal is cool. I'm not feeling the recent surge in folky blackmetal, or grown men singing silly songs about elves, hobbits and Gandalf while keeping a straight face, but to each their own.

More of a hardcore/metalcore fan, but there's lots of crossover these days to please anyone.

Unearth are cool. And bands like Converge still do it for me this week. We listen to lots of metal at work, including some elf rock too, heh. Elf core? ... Hobbit jigs, i don't get it, but whatever.

Neurosis, ISIS, At the Gates, Darkest Hour, stuff like that. Some grind is ok, for a quick blast. Metal is a big genre, and deserves a dubstepforum thread, ok? heh.

used to listen to it a lot, less now but still gets played on occasion. bands like nuclear assault, brutal truth, eyehategod, napalm death, phobia, exodus, terrorizer, bongzilla, repulsion. basically any decent thrash/grind/sludgecore.

black metal and death metal are rubbish. without exception.

Aye man, used to listen to metal almost exclusively. Still listen to quite a lot, especially in these cold, dark winter months (but, of course, dubstep is good for these months too hehe)

Off the top of my head...

Neurosis
Boris
Earth
Electric Wizard
Burzum
Empyrium
Emperor

Tend to be into the more drone/psych side of things, but naturally, there's always a time and a place for blast beats :D

In that really old Dubstep Wars show on MAH, didn't Vex'd say they were influenced by Korn or something? Jesus...that's embarassing. I would've thought that more dubstep producers would be influenced more by sludge/drone than by garage and grime, nevermind fuckin Korn.

Wouldn't call myself a fan, but I sure do listen to a fair bit of black'n'death.

Dillinger escape plan's "calculating infinity" is one of my favourite albums ever. Wouldn't bother with their more recent stuff so much though.

Bongzilla are sick!!! Amerijuanican is one of my fav albums.. only one of theirs i own actually...

But that comment about black and death being shit I have to disagree.

Tech Death kind of shit has to be my favorite metal.
Stuff like Psycroptic, Martyr, Kataklysm.... Been a bit since i've been vibing on that kinda stuff, but they are some amazing musicians especially Psycroptic.

Also on a bit of a different tip, Dan Swanno stuff like Bloodbath, Edge of Sanity (Crimson esp.).. Opeth are great aswell (more so there older stuff and the epic rock album Damnation) and Tool is one of the best bands of this era while i'm at it.

Thats all I can think of for the moment, cept Blood Duster gets a special mention for grindcore hillarity

Hmm... so you consider at least a third of all metal to be waste because you can find pics of poser idiots?

That is some truly astonishing logic you have there.
