sound card help

i have a very dodge audio out on the frount of my pc. how ever much i play with the connection it will only play through 1 or the other speakers .i have a audio out on the back of my pc to but that will only play through 1 of my speakers even though not damaged (the frount connection will sometimed play through both speakers but only if you hold the jack and move it about ... so do i need to buy a usb sound card or somin ir is it fixable ??? cheers

u mite have ur sound card set to mono?

check teh volume settings.

sounds like the jack that's on the cable not the actual sound card input. try different speakers or headphones. you might have to put a new jack on the cable. not that hard with scissors and tape.

tryed got new wire the out put in the frount is just fucked i just cant work out why the back 1 wont work im gettin some actvive monitors at cristmas well they just plug in to my sound card? its all so confusing

if you're using "real" monitors that use XLR's or 1/4" jacks chances are you will need a "real" sound card too. if you've got one 1/8" stereo output for your speakers, definitely start saving for a "real" sound card.

i use an m-audio delta 1010 LT. it's cheap, easy to install and works well for the price. search on eBay, you can get great deals.

i was gonna get some krk RP6 - Rockit 6" Active Studio Monitors but have no idea wtf im doing iv got a dj mixer with balenced left n right xlrs out put so i could put the audio through that b4 my monitors? im confused what sound card will i need 4 these monitors?

Input: XLR (3-pin), RCA & 1/4 in. TRS - 10k Ohm, balanced / unbalanced

eh, you're going to have to pull some sketchy shit to get that to work with your current sound card, if your current sound card is even working correctly. you'd have to run the RCA's into the mixer's out, and then an 1/8" to RCA to your mixer. this will bring a whole new piece of equipment (and signal which will cause noise and inaccuracies) into the situation.

just get a new sound card, i'm telling you. you can get a cheaper one than the delta 1010LT for not that much money. you may even be able to get a used one off of eBay to hold you over until you can afford something decent.
