The Washing Line is a new roving party which aims to showcase the finest underground live acts to a curious, clued-up crowd in intimate environs. The first Washing Line event takes place in the cellar bar of The Constitution, a cosy lockside boozer in Camden. Live music comes courtesy of dubstep iconoclast Bass Clef and tape loop maestro Sculpture.

Your hosts and resident DJs Lazerboy & Mr Soft spin disco, house and post-punk oddities, old and new. With no guestlist, no queues, no overpriced drinks and, we trust, no idiots – i.e. none of the grim accoutrements that make going out in London often such a joyless pursuit – The Washing Line aims to reinstate fun and integrity at the cornerstone of capital clubbing, and provide a place for people to talk, drink, dance and hear cutting edge sounds without insulting their intelligence or boring them sh*tless....

Bass Clef is one of the most inspired electronic performers working today, draping heavy-duty dubstep and grime rhythms with unusual live instrumentation.

"He takes the sonic palette, menace and rhythms of grime, and applies to them production techniques learnt from dub and abstract techno. Although the bass could probably rupture an internal organ, the groove and the hooks are ultimately so irresistible, you'd still keep moving if it did." – The Independent on Sunday
“Hackney dub master” – Time Out

Sculpture deploys reel-to-reel tape recorders, mangled electronic devices, walkmen, samplers and a lot of sellotape to create a spontaneous, joyful, sometimes ferocious, invariably danceable and always beautiful mess.

“The best piece of twitchy splatter since DAT Politics' Wow Twist'.” – The Wire
