Growls Dark rmx sounds good.. maybe add some melody in there and some more spacial fx

Sub is whats carrying it for me though.

the 3rd one sounds unfinished, like uve plotted what u wanted to do but run out of ideas.

u shud work on the 1st n 3rd for sure.

Extremely flat..

EQ, Compression, Dynamics, Panning, Reverb, Delay...

Then more logical breakdowns and build ups.. Intros.. (DJ friendly ect).. They pretty much all sound half finished to me.. with none of the final cosmetic goodies that really bring everything to life.

what a useless comment...

Growl's Dark Remix:
This sounds pretty good to me, elements-wise... The reggae skank sounds a bit flat or something, TBH I don't really think it fits with the rest of the track. But if sounded a bit fatter and "wetter" (more verb delay etc) it could be ok. I think the bass is good but it sounds a bit distorted in my headphones. If you could turn down the mids of the bass while maintaining the sub I think that would help. And maybe a little bit of reverb on the bass-mids..... And turn the drums up, they are great. basically this one sounds good, just the mix is off.

The mix of the middle track sounds much better, but I just don't feel this one as much as the first one.

i like the last track too, it could use one or two other elements though, and things like reverb, delay eq...
I reckon your stuff is sounding pretty good, if you keep doing you will only get better.. The more I produce stuff the more I discover there is to know!

bigger ideas. growl gets from skank into to wobble-with-birds.... why? how? right now it feels like 2 ideas backed up against each other w/ no reason to be next to each other.

louder drums.

maybe better 2 say nothing if it aint gonna be constructive...

anyway,

1st track: needs more syncopation, needs some funk. maybe some extra shuffling 2-steppy percussion or something. maybe some triplet delays? and lose the reggae skanks, like sumone else said, they dont seem 2 have anything to do with the rest of the track

2nd:
feeling the drums a lot, but not the melody: its too nursery rhyme, simple. a bit harsh perhaps, but i'd say ditch the melody altogether and do something else with the drums

3rd:
dont like it. not really got anything constructive to say. too much on the plastic reggae vibe for me...but thats just a matter of taste.

maybe could improve it by processing that nasty synthetic flute sound a bit more, and getting it to sound a little more organic. try playing with a combination of tube distortion, and chanel EQing before it to bring out some harmonics. by pushing up and pulling down certain frequencies u might get something wierd happening in the distrotion that'll give it a bit of life. and some modulation of some kind on it might help.

and yeah, more complex drums needed too.

safe

darkside, theres infomation everywhere on the internet, just search google for how to mix a song or something along those lines.

and its definatly better for someone to say i like it/its shit rather than say nothin at all. at least darkside gets one more opinion, be it contructive or not. plus it got people talkin and got more people respondin to this topic so even more people will now look.

you might even go as far as to say it was the most important post made so far in this topic.

unhealthy bass distortion on the first track which sounds like the levels are clipping.
dodgy kick drum in the second track which is in stereo - however - this is overshadowed by the odd nursery rhyme tinkerings over the top which im personally not feeling - just search the production forum for a wealth of knowledge.

FLstudio > Reason on a number of levels. the most important being VST capability. seriously, who doesn't integrate VST? that's absurd.

for your tunes.. NEED COMPRESSION AND EQ BIG TIME. this alone will help you out.. learn how to use them and be joyous. the composition is pretty good and your synths sound pretty good.. just wanna make sure that your levels are even. think of it like.. whatever is most important should be loudest.. but this is a really subtle balancing thing.

mixing can take a lifetime to master. and hey, if you are enjoying what you are doing that should be enough. keep working..

there is not text on the planet that will explain how to do what you hear inside your head.

Any serious producer using reason will be using it rewired with a host application. This is why it has no VST support. Aint that much of a need for it.
