Dubstep Producer With Unique Style?
Tell me some Dubstep producers that have very unique styles, that only the producer bearing it could make.
I thought Coki at the start, but then changed my mind...

Re: Dubstep Producer With Unique Style?
Innit- I'm really bored of people ripping off coki... Not sure if it IS down to Coki (Spongebob) that everyone's rinsing the distorted fizzy square bass sound now but I wouldn't bet against it.KIRK wrote:Coki has got a unique style blizzard, its just that so many people have ripped him off now that a lot of things sound like him.BlizzardMusic wrote:Tell me some Dubstep producers that have very unique styles, that only the producer bearing it could make.

Coki himself stays ahead of the game of course.

Benga
Benga is godfather for me, look back to tracks like Skank released on big apple records early 2003, i dont see any other producer coming with that sound back then. He reps for me, beats smith/magician springs to mind when I hear his beats. Production is top notch too. GWANNN Bengal!!
I think any producers style can be ripped off by another if they put enough effort in, copy the sounds, look at the sort of melodies they use, etc. Why they'd bother is anyone's guess though. Most of those mentioned have done tunes which I doubt people would be able to point to as that producer if they didn't know already.
If you put Earth a Run Red next to Spongebob, I doubt many people would figure it was the same producer if they didn't know already, and I think the same can be said for the output of most of the producers mentioned. I think most of the originators have done plenty of different styles within dubstep and that if you were to do the pepsi challenge so to speak, you'd be hard pressed to say that was Skream, Mala, etc.
Style is kind of limiting though, so fair play to all those producers who keep trying out new ideas.
Having said all that probably Burial would be the most difficult to copy due to the idiosyncratic way he has of working.

I have to mention Badawi...only b/c he's just created his own sound altogether...just unique. (big up Raz)...few weeks back a guy from Poland (I think)...uploaded a mixtape of Eastern European producers and that was pretty fresh. I'll try to find that.
