hehe i saw the thread and viewed the tut on how to make wobble with Massive but it didn't go that well, not sure how you make some good melodies or get the wobble melody to melt together with the drum breaks but i wasnt sure if the basslines in the songs are wobble or not, listen to this part:
http://rapidshare.com/files/81951159/bass.wav.html
dont think that is wobble is it?
one more question, is it a noise gate/reverbed gate that they use in some songs or is it just a revered hihat/snare/clap?
one more question, how do you get the basslines to go together with the drums? by using sidechain compression or something?
lol i'm kinda a amateur

anyways thanks alot

im not in the mood to click those links you posted on this sucky school internet, but if you here 'wub wub wub...' then that's wobble, and why do you need to know such things as the gate some producers use? Just do your own thing in music production.

Look,
I am getting inspired by these songs, which doesn't mean that I'm going to USE it, the method that they use. I just want to know if they use EITHER gates or just simply inverted samples. I don't know how to use gates yet so that's why I want to know if that which they use is gates because then I might use it somehow cause it makes me creative and I feel like that's something worth of using, and if I would do it wouldn't exactly be copying as I know that gates is one technique to produce one kind of a sound, then I can use that sound by being creative aswell as manipulating the settings.
I also wanted to know if its useless to use sidechain compression when producing such as Dubstep.
Finally to explain: I want to learn new methods and techniques, in this case:
How gates work, if its useful to use sidechains in Dubstep related producing and also new techniques for creating bass, mainly the one in the link I posted as I already know how to create wobble bass but still haven't learned how to get the right "sound" for it yet, you're basically telling me not to learn new methods. How am I going to be more creative when I can't handle simple things such as these?
Thank you.

"At its most basic, a gate is a device which mutes a signal whenever its level falls below a threshold set by the user. Its most common use is for combating noise problems by automatically closing down the audio path during periods of very low signal level, when only noise is present." SOS

new bass techniques - put an 808 kick in you sampler distort it and pitch it up and down
try assigning envelopes to stuff other than Volume or Filter cut off - try LFO speed or pitch -- GO CRAZEEE
Use EQ creatively - dig massive holes in your bass sounds - woooooo
send it to distortions with eqs before and after
Just keep messing around - didn't listen to the clip
