Dubstep and Dancing: a problem?

Post by i-line » Wed Jan 09, 2008 1:42 pm

Wtf is up with people's dancing at dubstep raves nowadays? I always used to like the fact that you could pick up a couple of new moves at a dubstep dance, but now it's all about 'brock the fuck out' every time.

At the last DMZ, with the few very notable exceptions of Silkie, N Type's girl and that girl with the white legs (at the front left), most people looked like they were dancing to some next rhythm. Limbs all over the place.

What happened to all the energy, attitude and finesse? How can we address the co-ordination difficulties of the dubstep punters? Is it the same in other countries? Is anyone else bothered? :)

Looking cool when your dancing is for losers.

im a shit dancer too
alot of the point of dmz is that everyone goes to dance however they want to, without fear of being singled out for the way they "dance".
if ur feelin the music and showing it, dont matter what you look like does it..?

Agreed. That's one of the reasons why it's nice that DMZ and Plastic People are so dark. You can have a little skank and not have to look at or be looked at by other people. It's nice to feel like you're more or less alone with the sub. Other people become faceless bodies.

I can't say I've ever picked up any new moves from any club ever. Do people do that?

I've got some moves I've been working on for about a year now. I think they should be ready in time for the 3rd birthday bash.

All I'm saying for now is 'tap fusion'. You've been warned.

Sick moves
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

Of course Stanton! What about at the reggae dance ? You don't want to be still doing the Scooby Doo when everyone else is on the Hand Grenade.

I don't want to hate on people doin their own thing with their own connection to the music - of course that's cool too - but it's always good to see a bit of creativity in the dancing as well as the music.

Better then the perfectly synchronised nod at the baseline and the subtle boooopbooop on the drop i say.

But i know exactly what you mean- i mean the shack should be in tune will the baseline atleast but these days im seeing heads move to some next imaginary bass line.
