Poor audio quality on barefiles.com

Post by aircooled » Wed May 10, 2006 12:18 pm

Some of the mixes I have downloaded from barefiles.com suffer from poor audio quality. Sometimes the sub bass distorts, and sometimes there's just lots of crackley shit all the way through. Where does this come from? Is it present in the file, or is it something to do with the download process? I have had to bin lots of great mixes because of this. Help!

Recordings from audio streams and FM!
Don't trash them, they will grow on you.

yeah check your eq'ing always, and it's recorded from pirate radio so you'll get the crackles and things. honestly i kind of need the crackles now and then, if it sounds too crisp it bugs me.

What they said.

Some mixes are home / studio recorded, mostly the ones posted here so they will be quality. But anything from Radio you can almost gurantee won't be as good quality.

The majority of the Hatcha & Crazy D, N-Type & all the Skream sets are the best radio quality you will get.

I went to the bank today and got told to go back tomorrow. Once I open a current account I'll sort it. Thanks so much, if I can get enough money together I'll get a second server otherwise I'll have to put advertisements up and things but hopefully a second one isn't far off.

Thanks for the support.

The reason the mix I did sounds so clean is that it was recorded at home. I was not streaming directly at the time.

The funny thing is that some of my favorite recorded dj sets of all time have been from rinse fm at a low bitrate with tons of crackle and static.

In my opinion the sound quality isn't the most important aspect of the process of hearing music through these sets it is mostly about the selection of tunes and then secondarily how they are mixed.
It's funny if the bass isn't perfect or certain sounds are not coming through clearly I just imagine in my mind what the music would sound like on a nice sounding system played live by a dj.

Also it makes the records I buy due to listening to music from these sets even more precious and loved by me. Nothing like getting a well mastered
record , cd or mp3 of music that one loves after hearing a track or song in my favorite djs sets at 96 k or 64 k sound for months.

Primarily though these mixes are being offered free so one of the main responses that comes to my mind is gratitude for the time, effort and love
that everyone involved in this process puts into getting the music to people.

Also putting together fund for the aforementioned services sounds like a great idea.
i.e. Needles and amps for rinse. Money for Deapoh's hosting.
I would surely contribute whenever i have some extra coin.

Wow very true. Thats what I think. I hear it for ages and ages, then I get a vinyl and omg it's high quality and even more stunnin then when I first heard the tune.

Yes it's a taster of what special tunes will be out in the future or if it's out then it's a reminder of the great tunes rolling and if you want to hear it in high quality then shed a few quid / dollars / your currency and get a piece of plastic / binary of an mp3!

big up deapoh!

i have just recently gotten into dubstep, and barefiles has been a godsend to hear great tunes and great djs in a place where no one is playing this stuff.

i would gladly send some$$ for barefiles(although would prolly have to do it thru someone else's paypal, since i don't use credit cards or banks...call me a freak...i hate banks...)
Here, have a free tune:

ready to send money as soon as you get it sorted deapoh. large! overseas crew shouldn't take anything for granted. if it wasn't for deapoh, boomnoise and few other peeps, none of this would get archived, so give thanks. i'll take any quality audio as long as i can hear the tunes.
