Scuba - A Mutual Antipathy LP

Post by thinking » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:05 pm

Couldn't find a thread about this so I've started one. Here it is!

This album is just superb, understated but the production is fantastic. Never resorts to hitting you over the head with a big drop, just builds grooves and vibe with a really satisfying palette of sounds. Really satisfying listen from start to finish - especially as it's in a kind of 'pseudo-mixed' format on CD. Perfect latenight/headphones music.

Big tings for Scuba in 2008. :!:

For sure!

Its deep, and grows on you like a fungus...

:D

Not what I would have expected a year or so ago, but definitely in a good direction.

Roll on March.

X3!

Classic Scuba sounds. Reeaal nice from whoa to go. I'm liking the one with the sound that sounds like a bouncing basketball.

:D

Agreed with everything said so far. :) And it really feels like an album, variations on a theme, not a bunch of unrelated tracks. There's continuity.

"Tell Her" and "Ruptured" are my favorites.

there's a point in the middle of this album, and the way that it's been sequenced that you find yourself really lost and in a very unsettling way. a massive creative statement. full of vibes from the older HF days, mixed in with new directions that don't sound like scuba at all. an album that won't leave your playlist, and has been in mine ever since i got it.
