Adding pops and crackles in FL Studio - help please

Post by mae » Sat Jan 26, 2008 12:40 pm

does anyone know of a way of adding vinyl style pops and crackles in fl studio?

something similar to survival of the fittest by mobb deep - tried running a search on here but could only find topics of people trying to get rid of the sounds

thanks in advance

The only way I can think of is to either get some vinly crackle samples and loop em, or sample some crackle yourself. I know the beatminerz sample vinyl crackle all the time, and are quite picky about those sounds..

Crackle caused by overruns is not desireable.. Use a sample, trust me.

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

dont synth it, take the real thing. Record the entry/exit parts of a vinyl and there you go. Or just find a sample online, sure there are millions.

He certainly ain't the first to use vinyl fx and he won't be the last. If people go on about you copying other people then they have a choice to either like it or lump it.

Record an old record. Any old vinyl will have that old crackel & poping sound. Records before the 70's have even more. We got some records from the 40's from my grandmother and they have a lot of noise. Cheers. Z

Have you not looked at those plugins we mentioned, they do the exact same thing you want, plus you have control over cracks, pops, noise, dust, etc.

here is a working link for Milli Vinylli: http://www.mediafire.com/?emaoyj1ty2m

Adding the crackle noises has been done to death in Techno and I cannot stand it when I hear it now! There are loads of plugins that can do it on the internet. I wouldnt bother tho if I were you it sounds pants.

luckily for me i'm using it on a grimey hip hop beat not a techno or dubstep track so it shouldn't sound so overused

and that plugin came out well future producer - thanks
