Nottingham: soon to be third city of Dubstep

Post by Littlefoot » Sat Feb 02, 2008 11:53 am

ok so Londons the home

Bristol is where its at

but at the moment im so fuckin happy to be in Notts and immersed in this music.

Unbelievable week.

Youngtsa and Appleblim, next day Geiom and Shackleton, then last night Futureproof fucking SMACKD MY ASS.

triple headliner to end all others. Bass Clef, im not a fan usualy but he was fucking brilliant, so inspiringly excentric. Geiom live, mate that was some other shit, i dont even know how to describe that. Martyns set was the most comprehensive yet elclectic set I have ever heard, goin from some mad techno to dubstep classics into some grooves ive neer heard before. inspspiring.

then i wake up hungover and my gf finds a MAGNETIC MAN and GEIOM live showcase.... oh my days.. and it was sitting next to the Kode9 flyer.

there are about 2 proper good nights a week at the moment, Geiom and Spamchop are playing future dubstep on legal radio..

"Soon to be"?

What you on about Joe - Notts has been rockin it for time.

Nice description of last night, I think you said it all there. Big up all Futureproof crew and all the artists - mental night.

Blatantly Bristol is the place man. But still Leeds is murdering it, with the Exodus nights, and Hessle Audio and Ranking Records. Guys up there are really pushing things forward imo.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Interesting short interview with Daddy G of Massive Attack in the Bristol Evening Post on Thursday....

Speak to Grant Marshall (aka Massive Attack's Daddy G) and he leaves you in little doubt about his feelings for his hometown. As I quickly discover when I suggest Bristol ranks alongside the capital on the emerging dubstep scene.

"What do you mean 'up there with London'?" he demands. "We're better than London! I hate that comparison.

"We're way better than London - we're the best, i'm not just saying that - we are the best"

His words, not mine
19th October - Jahtari Presents Tapes EP Launch Party @ Gramaphone, London w/ Tapes, Clause Four & International Observer.
23rd October - Galway, Ireland.
31st October - UFO @ Dojo, Bristol w/ Dema.

Futureproof was ridiculously good last night! As soon as I turned up and saw the set-up in the main room I knew it was going to be a good one. :o

Bass Clef's live set is one of the best things I've ever seen! Spent the whole set with a massive cheshire-cat grin on my face.

Same went for Geiom's set...completely wild! :D

Martyn finished up a sick night. Tune selection was genius.

The main room was so good that I didn't really make it to the other 2 rooms, but i heard good things. Such an energetic vibe in the whole place!

Out to Tom, Rachel, and Dixon on the organsational front!

Roll on the next one! :D
