Dubstep display stand in HMV

I had to do a double take in the main HMV store in Manchester

It had the Skream, Burial, Pinch, Benga, Kode9 & Spaceape cds and a few others..

Good to see it getting some more recognition - and hopefully it shifts a few more copies for those featured.

i hope this goes down as an oppurtunity to reel potential dubplate addicts in

as opposed to a way of seperating "big" dubstep releases from the mass underground conciousness which is is now

there is a dubstep promotion happening at the moment at hmv, u will find all the allstars cds at 7.95, i guess cos of the benga album.

eugh bout time cos whenever u wanna find a dubstep comp in hmv u go to the dance compilations section and they just have sections for hed kandi, ministry, fabric etc... all name brand comps and it's like 'yeeeeeh.... cool... where's the dubstep?'

but this has to beg the question, why goto HMV for dubstep anyway, nuff places to get hold of it these days!

yuh i normally go sister ray or SOTU. but when i'm in hmv anyway... you know when you're not lookin for anything specific, u just wanna have a peruse of a certain type of music... hmv has been REALLY annoying cos u can't do that, u gotta seek out each cd by name.

hmv is geographically my most local music shop

yeh i know what you're sayin tho, i'm not a huge fan. get sent there for work quite often tho so like to have a lickle browse.

Its like people just gunna be making tunes for the sake of it even though theres been no quaility put into the tunes, its like the 4x4/Niche scene at the mo, bare people are on that scene and the sounds are getting too repetitive.

The thing about dubstep at the min is that theres so many differant styles of production going on. But im worried about the future in this genre i love!!! I hope some of you see were im coming from on this.

Lol @ markle!!

It's good promotion though and for the labels, DJs and producers it means a larger fan base and a bit more money to fill up their fridge. Of course for the raves it means you might get a few more dickheads!!

aye thats precisely what i mean, i don't want it to get to the point where everybody loves dubstep and fancies themself as a producer, whether or not they have any talent, so you have loads and loads of shit tunes floating around, and you have to spend increasing amounts of time sifting through crap to find something good

i've seen it happen before, but dubstep is something i truly love and i don't want to see it go downhill, it feels like the more people seem to flock to it the worse it is getting, and something like this does not help

fair point, is good for the producers, but more dickheads is not good

The one in Hammersmith has BARE of the Ikonica release on Hyper Dub, I'm talking like 11/ 12! I picked up skreamizm 3 in there a while ago, and they have vol.4 and his album. Cant forget Crank that - Soulja Boy on vinyl as well
