Post by quidz » Tue Mar 18, 2008 10:45 am

I just watched the movie 3000BC stoned, and had an idea i would like to explore (cheesy as fuck movie by the way, but dope effects)
So im looking around for some deep african drums..anything thats real tribal ..hopefully there are some packs out there or something!
OR perhaps someone knows of some cool recordings of this kinda music that i could perhaps sample from?
Im talking like dancing around the fire type shit. 8)

Try reading the original post before commenting and trying to instigate an argument on Racism.

Quidz said 'African sounding type drums' and 'dancing round the fire type shit'. NOT African people dancing round the fire.

Muppet.
Bored of the same old fucking shit.

try reading the post yourself, rather than re-writing it and adding the words "sounding" and "type" to change the meaning

You're the prick changing the meaning by pointing to it being a post including a racist undertone. The word type was in the original post, so you've proved yourself to be the ignorant twat you accuse other people of being... Ha ha ha...

the word type wasnt where YOU put it though was it?

i dont c y u r stepping in to get all defensive over this anyway, especially when not even the original poster has taken my criticism as badly. and how can u possibly know what the original poster's prejudices are anyway? unless u r the same person signed in with an alias.

and u've given zero argument as to why u think the connotation of africa with a primative stereotype ISNT racist.

most ppl r racist in some way or another, almost certainly me included, but it doesnt always take the form of callin ppl n****, w**** or whatever. stupid stereotypes of natives dancing round fires with bones in their noses r more the fantasy of white colonialists and hollywood filmakers than reality, and dont do anyone any favours.

wasnt 'trying to instigate an argument' as u say, but highlight something i found offensive. if u can tell me why i shouldnt be offended, in a coherent argument, then fine, otherwise stfu cos u just come accross as an unintelligent fool

safe

When he said 'dancing round the fire type' stuff, he surely meant the kind of tribal stuff you can imagine tribal people dancing round the fire to. In no way was he presuming that Africans spend all their time dancing round fires.

Nothing wrong with that. Much ado about nothing.

Issue resolved.
Im sorry if i offended anyone with my blatant racist stereotyping...the hollywood filmakers have tainted my perception on the world, and im far too much of an idiot to realise africans have lives outside of dancing around fires.

Pigeon-holing any continent into one sentence is inherently racist. But there are still active, primitive tribes in Africa, and they do still play drums.

Now shut the fuck up and post samples.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to jump into the thread first and post something that would undoubtedly cause some kind of friction and irritation. Hang on, I didn't!

Battle Gong. If you're so narrow minded as to think people wont jump at the chance to respond to something that you say is a racist comment, then you live a very, very sheltered life.

I'm not the original poster, I'm just someone who thought your comment was a fairly pointless exercise as we're all here to talk about music and not the fundamentals of race and the like.

Let's not go into this anymore. I'm not here to make enemies, but sometimes in this overly PC world I think some comments may be best left alone.
