Strange places you have heard garage/dubstep music?

Post by citizen » Wed Mar 26, 2008 10:39 am

Just saw this - halfway through there are some garage beats. Very odd choice of backing track.

(worth watching anyway - this shit is amazing!)

Seen or heard any dubstep beats in strange places lately?

A bunch of spotty teens had hired out the skittles alley attached to my local pub for a birthday party. I went outside to smoke and they were all brockin' out to Night!

Made me chuckle no-end!

^ lol

the time i least expected to hear dubstep or garage and got both was in a quiet rockers bar in san sebastian, basque country...

the barman had long hair, a beard and looked a bit like a hells angel and was playin metal so imagine our surprise when we heard burial sandwiched between some aggy guitair albums! he gets around eh...!

bar itself was amazing though - i love how u can actually skin up and smoke in all the bars in san sebastian... u can smoke spliffs walking down the street and old people actually smile at u... food is peng as well! viva basque country!

good thread.

on holiday last year in turin... me and friends tried to get a train from turin to milan to see skream but missed the last train by 3 minutes... went trudging around trying to find a bar, feeling pretty screwin about missing skream.. sitting outside a bar on some square where a dj is (somewhat randomly) playing reggae/dub.. suddenly i hear "so long africa, so many things have changed..."!! he then proceeds to play half an hour of mala/dmz tracks on the worst system i've ever heard.

good times.

While i was in prague, i was told by someone on here about a Dubstep night. So i found a map and found the club, Wakata. It was about 5 miles from the centre, walked through red light district and some dodgy looking areas to get there. Turns out a club is just a bar/pub, but there was dubstep still. big up that DJ.

Anyway, after being in there about an hour two people came in and and at the end of our table pull out some scales, bag up a eighth. Didnt watch who got it, but later on a guy with a massive backpack came in and pulls out a 2 foot Roor bong. One hit, downs his pint and leaves.

There's an episode of Six Feet Under where one of the characters is driving home while fucked up on meth. Suddenly Jammin' - Hello starts playing on the radio, and when the tune breaks into that mouth harp-y sound the guy in the passenger seat goes "is this really the right soundtrack for a meth trip?"

Made me chuckle.

i can honestly say i haven't heard dubstep outside of my yard, my friend's yard and three parties (two of which i was the one playing the dubstep)

i don't listen to radio either.

my place is pretty strange though, i suppose that counts
