El-B Mixes?

Post by shonky » Thu Jun 01, 2006 7:33 am

Was wondering whether anyone's got any of El-b's old mixes to download - been feeling the old Ghost/Shelflife sound and wanted to find more of his toons.
Hmm....

I dont know of anything like that, would be well interested myself! But I'd highly recommend you checking the United Vibes mixes (should be on barefiles), especially the Dubstep History mix. But their shows are always peppered with the sickest 2step tunes, well worth giving a go

And yeah, that was one of my fave mixes off the site, so big ups.

Come to think of it, Nude was pretty good too (Digitize is superb). Anyone know anything about DJ Masey-o - who did "Watch Dis" - that was a good tune that I found almost by mistake, but never heard anyone else play it (this info may be wrong, so I'll check when I get home)
Hmm....

Cheers for that link. I had been meaning to get that stuff from way back when they first went up, but always forgot - vinyl got in the way haha.

Back at the crib now - DJ Masey-O and Soultronix - Watch Dis

It was out on Silkworm records - the tune kicks in again after some recorded ganja inhalation by the sounds of it. Quite garagey number but not like anything else I heard at the time
Hmm....

Only about 15 minutes into this mix, but this is wicked cheers. Shame I couldn't find much of this stuff around at the time, it's quite mellow, but it's got that old skool oddness, if you know what I mean. Really nice garage tracks on this, wish I could find more of it at the time. Think that darker garage sound was an avenue not nearly explored enough.

Got to get that garage back into dubstep where it belongs
Hmm....

Yeh I think it would add a nice bit of variety.
