Thinking of hosting a free Mp3 site(320's only)

Artist/ label submitted...does this already exist and if not, how many would be up for it?

I know there is a dubs section here, but tbh, bouncing around to megaupload/sendspace/etc is a pain in the ass and having a central site for dubstep only tunes seems like a decent idea.

I'd probably host it and the like, but may put up a google ad or paypal donate button cause you guys would rape my bandwidth.

the key here is FREE/creative licensed material.

also, the site will look ghetto as shit cause im lazy, but if anyone wants to put something together, im game....doubtful there will be any discussion forums needed cause that exists here...i wouldn't mind adding a dl counter per track tho so people can see stats.

I’d be happy to see something like this…I considered buying some server space myself for putting up tunes of my own…so i’d contribute if I used it

Would it be an upload form for dubs or email? automatically updated page or updated by you with new tunes submitted?

was about to pound my head on the desk when I saw that Get Darker was putting most of their stuff up at 192 as well as putting in mixes, etc.

I'm just hosting 320 and higher quality type formats so people can get their stuff played out too.

BTW the thing you where saying about upload forms...

i'm not sure what you're skills are like but a friend of mine is a professional web developer/database thingy chap...if something comes up that stumps you, i can check for help (he reluctantly helps me from time to time), though i'm sure you know what you're doing.

the thing with forms and an automatically updating site (based upon user input) is that it will need to be moderated so people don't upload crap like "check this, it's unfinished" ect. so i.e. hard rules and disclaimers.

yah, got everything working, actually, then tested a 320...13mb...due to the script, the host terminated the upload so im now shopping for a host that will allow large uploads via said script

yeah u've probably discovered the 2mb limit via a php script, but i'm sure there must be a way around this. I beleive I have also seen php scripts which allow larger files...I have built some websites so i may be able to help u out in some aspects...pm me if u want.

Yo, I've tried to start something like this on the forums before, but nout ever came of it. I think it was partly because I was new to the forums, and I did a crappy job of trying to spread the word.

Anyway, I've got a chunky server, and a metric shitload of bandwidth. Hit me up in a pm, and I can probably sort you out with some free hosting for this...
