I love slang...love it..but I ain't a fan of how 'bare' is bandied about, purely cos I think its well misleading. For example my cousin turned round to me recently and said "I'm looking forward to this football match, there's gonna be bare goals". And I thought, what? Its gonna be 0-0?? He just sounded stupid.
I use the word 'bad' all the time to mean 'good', but do that to reflect the vibe of what I'm talking about (usually a tune). So I understand how a word can be used subversively (wicked being another).
Sheer is a much better word than bare anyway.

Didnt "bare" always mean loads?
The best moment was when a lad at work said, "There was bare loads women" ::)
While we are on it, Safe, "cannot" be used instead of Goodbye can it?
I hear loads of posh students "safe-ing" each other while walking in opposit directions.

Can you imagine dubluke saying "I'm sheer hyped man"? Not quite the same methinks.

Nay lad. If your mum's cupboard was bare, you'd be hungry.

Safe can indeed be used to say goodbye, it's just a word of respect which can be applied at any greeting/farewell.
And for the record (although there's quite a few records on dsf already) bare either means "a lot of/many" or "very".

I've always said to friends as they were leaving "be safe"
but just to use "safe" in the same way.....pretty cheesy
the "bare" thing makes no sense....in cali they say "hella"

Exactly. Does the term 'bare women' mean:
Lots of women
No women
Women who are bare.
It could mean all three. That's why I don't like 'bare' cos I could potentially miss out on the sight of naked women.
And yeah, 'safe' can mean goodbye. I'm safe, you're safe, we're safe, so now we can part our separate ways.

I doubt if a teenager says there was "Bare women in the jam", hes talking about there not being any women there. Read it in the voice.
