What to do in LA for kicks?

Post by cogi » Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:05 am

So I've been here over half a year now and I'm having a great time.

One thing I've noticed is that my weekends (or weekend nights anyway) have been getting supremely repetitive, usually spent at college parties or occasionally at bad frat parties at USC. Get to go to some amazingly overpriced raves that are good fun but not my style, more house/techno and some average dnb.

Where's all the secrets? Echo park and downtown have some cool shit but I don't know how to find out about it.

And not all my mates have 21+ id so any suggestions with that in mind would help.

safe in advance

Check out The Smell, the have some cool stuff there, also on the Industrial/EBM/HardTechno/Powernoise/IDM end of things is Das Bunker, they throw all sorts of parties for good prices, but they mostly do 21+.

you can look up both on the web and find their respected partners in crime. go to my myspace page (in the sig) also to link to them.

Check out www.junglescene.com for the 'clubs and parties' section for some dnb, dubstep and other type events... theres Pure Filth dubstep on Tuesdays and a few underground events going on in the near future. If you make it up to the valley stop in Grooverider's records for flyers and to see whats up too...

you could try getting involved with the gang scene .. red or blue, take your pick .. never a dull moment, parties, PCP, no age restrictions ... what more could you ask for.

At least we have a "gang" scene. Some of the best organized criminal gangs in the world are kicking it right here in beautiful SoCal.
