Insomniak - First tune

Post by insomniak » Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:36 am

Hey all I'm 16 from London, just got into making dubstep (if you could even call what I'm making that).

Kind of short and steady, let me know what you guys think.

Easy..

You got the right idea, just need the right noises... long tings to get the noises you want, theres a lot to learn. practice makes near perfect. saaaafe

Safe man, yeah - need to work on the bass especially sounds extremely flat and in need of serious work, its something I'll learn in time..

Thanks for the feedback ;)

what are you working off of and what programs

also its missing reverb and a few other effects and eq's compressors etc

you have the right idea into music production, now you just need the technical aspects

look up some tutorials on youtube or google for mixing mastering and learn about compressors

otherwise good job keep it up!

I'm working with a vast array of random samples I've been downloading and I'm using Fruity Loops 7.

Will definitely have a look into that, cheers for the feedback.

ahh finally got round to downloading it!

I am actually really feeling this, its a good start I'd say.

Some little tweaks would be great.
Love the hits and the pad!, I don't think they need a change on the sound though, maybe hits should be turned down a bit.
Add more punch to that snare/clap it hits at good points so why not give it more character and make people go.. "Thats a sick snare?"
Bass is good but everything is kinda, sitting together level wise, try and make things stand out more!

Try getting some sample packs (loads in the production bible) being a FL user, I know half of that stuff is FL stuff not saying its a bad thing though! People make BIG tunes with stock stuff in FL! But you know, don't limit yourself to the same 60mb worth of samples is all I'm saying

All in all good first try! If its your first time producing, ever! Big ups!

Wish I got this sorta feedback from my new tunes let alone my first !!! so count yourself lucky mate! haha

Haha! Yeah man, cheers!

This was indeed my first attempt at producing, will get downloading alot more samples. Will continue working on it when I get home, learnt some stuff about Compressers and Mixing this morning so will try and include some of that stuff, aswell as beefing up that snare, just for you!

I've got some good samples bookmarked and will download them aswell.

Easy
