do you consider dubstep your main genre of choice?

Post by Pistonsbeneath » Mon Apr 21, 2008 11:40 am

just wondered if most people into it like it more than anything else

it's what i listen to most right now but if i had to choose between it & 96 era warp electronica i'd choose the latter

but i never listen to it so its weird

As a genre, i prefer electronica but i do like my hiphop, r'n'b, funk, soul and reggae. Music with a bit of colour. Not feeling rock, country, metal, indie or any of that mostly guitar driven stuff.

In terms of electronica. I like bass heavy music around 140 bpm, mostly breakbeat driven but i don't mind if its halved occassionally to get a more spcaious feel going.

At present yes..... tho i hate to say it.
Been a big dnb head for many years, tho i feel it's all gone a little stale as of late, dubstep has definatly filled the gap.

Pretty much the same. Into far too many styles to not be bored by more than a couple of hours of any music really.
Hmm....

It's the main 'form' of music that I currently follow.

However, I never play a full set of just 'Dubstep'.

I like to mix it up with Grime, UK Garage, Bassline and other bits and bobs that take my fancy.

I listen to a lot of music...Dubstep is only a fraction of it.

Music of the Electronic variety being my main choice [but that takes in multiple genres...]

Nah i couldn't really pick one particular favourite genre of music. I have to be in the right mood to listen to dubstep, though once it's on i could listen to it for ages.

seems a bit odd to me!

Me too! About 2 years now - listen night and day- blocks out reality!
Think it's [generally] lack of lyrics [any lyrics that are in dubstep, [generally] have no relevance to my life] also the vibe it gives me .. hard to describe - but I used to look too much into lyrics - Dubstep is really pleasurable / chilled music, without me self evaluating all the time... [make sense?]
Still can [and do] listen to anything though - and enjoy [last "fad" was Thrash!]- BUT, Dubstep just takes me to another [uncomplicated] place :D
Next closest thing was / is Trance, but over commercial now- and always on the happy euphoric tip [which is fine] but your'e not always like that [well i'm not!]

As for not sitting through a two hour radio show - I sort of know where you're coming from - before going to my first DMZ [1st Dubstep night] I knew I loved the music, but thought, can I really listen to that for 8 hours solid ... well yes I could - and was dissapointed when it finished!
