I would say that would have to have not been around in '04.

D1 - my discovery of the year (he's not really newcomer (in sence that he hasn't been here in 2004, although, his first release was late 2004. (tempa), and his first solo release was in 2005...) but real reason why i pick him is cos he's on whole different level this year, and sounds fresh)
Scuba - also big discovery, but is he a newcomer
i think we need some rules in this category and it's very hard to draw a line here.. i wouldn't "say that would have to have not been around in '04." though.. cos how many ppl will left then?
maybe less than two releases behind you? (yeah, then random trio is a newcomer too...)
i don't know..

I think if it was anyone whose first label release was in 2005, that would work well enough.
yes/no?

yes
sounds good (why didn't i think of that? f**kin skank!)
i did a little counting and i found 13 "necomers"..
+ many ppl who don't have a label release (like Caspa, but you can candidate them too, of course!)

...appleblim or shackleton don't know which is which at the mo
and does kid deli count ???
but to be honest we have no idea who's coming with the new stuff cos we don't get the upfront stuff or download radio sets...

Of those, only Boxcutter can be classed as a newcomer.
