Problems with MIDI keyboard and Reason 4

Post by roamer303 » Fri May 16, 2008 12:02 pm

Hi. This is my first post and asides form being new to this here forum I'm also new to the world of making music on a computer!!

I'm using Reason 4 and I bought the other day an M-Audio Key Rig 49 USB keyboard. The first time I used it I changed my preferences to allow the keyboard to be used. The keyboard worked and I wrote some very shitty basslines!! But it worked.

I've just loaded up Reason again now and I can't see a signal from the keyboard on the mixing desk. I haven't changed anything yet it doesn't seem to be able to send a signal.

Any ideas why not?? This is probably a really simple problem but it's doing my facking head in!!!!

Have you tried these very simple things (sorry if it sounds patronising)

Unplugging it and plugging it back in?
Restarting with it plugged in?
Re-installing drivers?
Looking for driver updates?
Checking all settings on driver/reason/control panel?

Check to see if your using the same usb port that you instaled the driver on,
if your not the keyboard wont be recognized by Reason.

Check if the keyboard is being recongised by Reason at all.

Go to midi preferences and enable it. It should still appear even if its not connected as it just stores the drivers.

Maybe the midi cable has broken, try another?
