PC vs Mac
I've really been looking into buying a mac book pro and finally moving away from the PC.
are there any real disadvantages from using a mac instead?
i've got a lot of VST and other little things that i use
have any of you guys moved from pc to mac recently?

macs can run vsts as long as your host sequencer supports them. I would say that there couldn't be a better time to move away from the PC. OS X is really stable, and a joy to use. Im hardly a mac fanboy, but i like the OS a lot, (and i LOVE the aluminum keyboards!).
honestly, my production has doubled at least, since i switched to a mac. because things work the way they're intended, and because if i wanna play any games i've gotta reboot my intel mac into windows

well i was only running cubase on the pc, so i dont really know about renoise on the pc. I had a ton of driver issues, as well as just generally annoying random crashes on my pc on a regular basis. Im sure i could have taken better care of my pc -aside from regular defragmentation and virus scanning, but the point is, on my imac, i dont have to do those things. Im not saying macs are perfect, because they're not.
(i wont buy another macbook pro/powerbook until they change the design.. i've seen some major flaws in the design as far as im concerned)
I am saying that i find working on my mac to be a more complete, and more enjoyable experience than i've had working on any pc.

a) I can mod it
b) I can put in it any kinf of HW I want

actually is not so big the price difference beetwen mac and pc, last week my new lappy has arrived, and yes,

the biggest macbookpro is an alf of my new lappy, and is very expensive compared to it (my pc is only 1387 €)

anti mac ex mac user here.
mac meant: less support for plugins, odd (or atleast alien) filemanaging system, and to be totally honest I can;t really be fucked with that kinda shit when I just wanna make a beat, the less time I can worry about OXSs wierd layout when looking around folders the better.
I sold my mac at a profit.
Bought a PC laptop.
and my production TRIPLED, suck on that.
anyway who wants to use Logic? only wanky experimental electronica guys use it

lots of plusses to both, really...
lots of free vsti's available for PC, but Mac has the stability to keep on going and going.
thing is, I do composing for video games and film, and when I need to emulate a 120+ piece orchestra, PC just won't cut it.
from a pro stand point, go mac...for a cheap way, go PC
