he is in north america for several gigs so i think flight shares are a possibility. i just think it's steep considering that dubsteppishness is still pretty niche, and despite the fabulousness of BGB and dubfix and such, it seems to still be pretty outside the "BIG CLUB" mentality. so i just wonder if the $15 price tag is gonna push off any interested "outsiders" who might wander by if it was more affordable.four4 wrote:His fee is pretty steep if I remember correctly. Still, $15. I wonder if this is a one off and there is no flight share. Either way, I'd spend the cash if I was there.sapphic_beats wrote:There.
A little mystified by the $15 cover tho. :/
course i could just be thinking like a girl from a city where no one goes out to anything. *shrug*

Oh don't get me wrong, I am gonna find a way to scrounge up that $15, but given the state of the economy and gas prices, I think it's way high. It's not 1998 anymore, and hell, in 1998 I could pay that to "rave 'til dawn". But, considering the cost of a typical concert these days, it IS still tame in comparison.municiple wrote:I think $15 is pretty reasonable considering his stature, etc. I figure it is the same as picking up a cd or a couple of 12's, but will be a fun night. I love the Sono soundsystem and I usually have a good time there.

Sono sounds great and all but I hate the design of that place. It's like one long hallway where no matter where you're standing you're in someone's way. Also, who puts a step in a dancefloor? Yeah, I know it was originally designed to be more like a lounge but you'd think they would've removed that ridiculous step after turning it into a "dance club".
Regardless, I am excited to go to this and with BGB the night before I foresee an epic 4th of July weekend.
I'll just have to drink less so I can afford the cover.

Kode9 costs more cuz he has a PhD
I love Sono, and it may be a big hallway, but it's a BIG hallway, unlike Lava where I have to swim through a sea of hipsters
The step is ridiculous, I'm just hoping one day I get to see someone fall.
But for real $15 is steep; I'm going, but there's no way I can convince others to go now
Or maybe they're tryin to keep out the riff raff

Um, Lava Lounge anyone? Don't get me wrong, I like the place, the people, the BassGoesBoom nights.. but Lava has this problem too, and it's worsened because the whole place bottlenecks right around the DJ booth (where alot of people want to stand) where you have to walk past if you want to hit the bathroom. At least Sonotheque opens up a little towards the back with the couches.. FWIW the same guy designed both places. Lava has the "hot" color scheme and Sono is the "cool" colorway.timid wrote:Sono sounds great and all but I hate the design of that place. The step can be troublesome.. especially when you're dancing and you get stuck up there. I liken it to dancefloor purgatory.. ha. I've definitely almost ate it trying to maneuver through before. I don't think it's really meant to be a club so much as it is a lounge, otherwise you're right Tim, what's with the step? Ha..
And $15 isn't that bad, seriously guys. Shitty DJs like Bassnectar charge at least that much.. and I just saw Radiohead in St. Louis, that ticket was like $61 face value. I'd gladly pay $20+ to see Kode9, maybe that's just me though.

Much love to both Lava and Sono, they are doing the best they can. Lets put the dub into that annoying dancefloor killing step, shall we?

Lets start dubstep nights at the Admiral Theater... get them ladiez skanking on that pole.
Sono is a club in a lounge room... The only time it feels loungey to me is when no one is there... last time I was there is got a little crazy...
