Skream- Refuel

Post by uproot » Mon Jun 09, 2008 9:51 pm

Not sure what your guys stands are on this, but anyone heard the bass sound from Skream- Refuel. It is an unaltered patch from NI Massive. Anyone who has Massive, check out the patch "Brutal Elektro".

It's a little disappointing for me, but still, great composition, I'm too much of a tech head to even contemplate using patches.

What you guys reckon?

Audio or it didn't happen.

EDIT: Also, what's so bad about using patches? Whatever sounds good, ya dig?

Yes I agree there, but at the end of the day, in a genre that focus's so heavily on bass, I assumed the biggest, most commercial producer would be making his own sounds. Synthesis is what gives each artist their character and original sound, but I suppose there's always two sides of a coin.

EDIT: It WAS one of my favorite Skream bass sounds, that I attached to him as an artist...

What you mean, audio or it didn't happen? You want audio proof is that it?

Ok cool, might as well kill this thread... I'm fairly new so probably missed that one, and it's not worth digging up old ones. Ez

The art of sarcasm. Is it to make it blatantly obvious? Or is it more skilled to be stealth?

Theres loads of ways of imitating patches, granted something could have been used alot but doesnt mean its done with. The FM7 has one but Im not telling you what its called or who uses it.

I think don't judge people by what you think is right and wrong musically, especially if all the evidence points to them having integrity and skill. Objectively there is no right and wrong in music, a piece either works for you personally or doesn't and this is/can be a combination of its musical quality and any associations that information about it carries. Skream did something like this before and got flack, he did it again, i assume, because he doesn't care what a few people think, he must be of the 'sounds good= it is good' school. Sleng Teng is a Yamaha Keyboard preset etc etc.

My stance is that I don't fucking care how long you took tweaking an original bass sound, because if your track is instantly forgettable (like 90% are) then it doesn't matter.

There are some excellent and memorable tracks with presets just like there are insipidly bland tweakfests.

At the end of the day, it just depends how you want to spend your time.
