24-10-08 Oi! Dub Attack part III @ Amsterdam Dance Event, Paradiso
It is that time again on Friday the 24th of October that during the Amsterdam Dance Event, in the large room of the Paradiso, Oi! will represent the freshest of UK Underground Sounds. Oi! is Amsterdam’s longest going Dubstep & Grime night, running for almost 5 years now.
Dubstep is now more popular than ever, its sound has been filled with deep sub bass, high energy and influences from reggae, jungle, hip-hop, and 2-step. This is the third time Oi! Will take place in the large room, after the huge successes of two previous editions, also held during the Amsterdam dance event 2007, and earlier this year the edition with Rinse FM and with Skream & DMZ.
Now it’s time for the third large edition with a line-up with only top boys. Headliners on the night will be Caspa & Rusko. these men have already been proving themselves for a considerable time in the dubstep scene and have their residence at club Fabric in London plus a show on Rinse FM. In the beginning of this year they have put a mix together for the well-known mix series from Fabric live, which was very well received. Caspa & Rusko has a very large list succesful releases under their belt, and a very recognizable sound. They themselves call it party music and not too serious, Caspa & Rusko are also the men behind the respected labels Dub Police & Sub Soldiers.
The following names are the upcoming two-high rolling dj/producers of this year Cluekid & Cotti these young producers, come from the grime corner and that is what u can hear in their productions, their break trough came with the big underground anthem Sensi Dub. Cotti got a few large hits with Doctor; Calm Down & Rise The Tempature, of which the latter will come out on his own label Bassface Records. Cluekid will have a new release this year on the Dutch/UK label Subbalicious Recordings. Expect a big set from these two big boys in Dubstep!
The following in line is DJ Hatcha, a pioneer in the scene from day one, with his popular show on Kiss FM he draws many listeners each week. Hatcha was the man behind the recordstore/label Big Apple Records. The dubstep recordstore, which supported dubstep from the beginning. Hatcha was also the first DJ who mixed the first of the Dubstep Allstars CD series on Tempa Recordings, and is known for his tight and perfect dub choice. Hatcha will show you on Oi! what dubstep is all about!
The man behind Oi! is DJ Gomes aka G-Man, who started his career in the early days of 2-step & garage and progressed along with the sound to where it stands today. Since there were no raves with the sound of now, Gomes decided 4 years ago to start his own thing in the Paradiso Amsterdam. Oi! Has become a respectable rave in the scene, attracting many big artists over the years. With its own internet radio show “Oi Pirate radio” on Lijn5.com Gomes pushes the sound forward. G-Man is the production alter-ego of Gomes who will have a release on UK label SubSonik Recordings as well as the first release on his own new label Oi! Recordings.
DJ Osiris is the man behind Dubstep.nl, Subbalicious Recordings en Brrrap.com. This man is a passionate dubstepper from day one and has little interests in everything going on dubstepwise in the Netherlands and abroad.
The Host of the Night is Crazy D, the returning host of nights like FWD & DMZ, and the resident MC of the dubstep show on Kiss FM 100 together with Hatcha
